If you’re familiar with CafePress, then you know they’ve been around for a long time. Since 1999, in fact. While they’ve offered website owners a great opportunity to sell customer merchandise, it hasn’t really been a knockout punch because until now they haven’t really kept up with the changing Web. More specifically, they haven’t incorporated social media very well into their platform. Well, now, that’s changing.
When you visit another CafePress seller now, you’ll see a big green Follow button under their profile. This allows you to keep in contact with those sellers you admire and whose products you like. Of course, that works both ways.
If you are a seller, or you want to design your own customized T-shirts, coffee mugs, etc., then CafePress is the perfect place to do that. You don’t have to hold any inventory. You can link to your CafePress store from your website and drive your website visitors to your store. They can follow you there and you can interact with your customers through the CafePress interface.
E-commerce is increasingly becoming more social. There are other options. You can set up an Etsy store, sell on eBay, sell through Amazon, set up a store on your Facebook page, or set up your own e-commerce store on your website using WordPress, Joomla, or one of the other popular CMS systems. Aren’t you glad you have options?
